Fort Valley State University Selects Holloman to be the VP for University Advancement

FORT VALLEY, GA (April 7, 2017) – Fort Valley State University President Paul Jones, Ph.D., today announced the appointment of Mr. Anthony L. Holloman as the next FVSU vice president for university advancement and executive director of the Fort Valley State University Foundation, Inc. In this role, Mr. Holloman will manage relationships with donors, corporations, businesses, government officials, foundation board members, individuals within the communities served by the university, and other internal and external stakeholders. Among his objectives will be growing the number of donors, strengthening partnerships and improving the development infrastructure.

“Mr. Holloman’s charge is to create an innovative, aggressive advancement program which will dramatically broaden our support base, increase engagement with our donors, partners and funders and develop philanthropic opportunities that lead to major gifts,” said Dr. Jones. “Our goal is to leverage technology, analytics and old-fashioned relationship building to create an advancement program that establishes a new model for effectiveness.”

Mr. Holloman has extensive experience leading advancement efforts at a number of historically black colleges and universities, including Jackson State University, Stillman College, South Carolina State University, Tuskegee University, Tennessee State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Johnson C. Smith University and Wiley College, where he is currently vice president of institutional advancement. Over his career, he has been instrumental in efforts that have raised more than $100 million, including contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and industry associations. He has crafted strategies to increase employee and trustee giving and incorporated technology, research and data measurement into the donor cultivation process. His successes have included increasing support for athletics and scholarships and launching capital campaigns.

Mr. Holloman wants to grow the culture of giving at FVSU. “My goal is to centralize the prospect cultivation and solicitation process and enhance and develop effective fundraising strategies that will yield positive results for FVSU, focusing primarily on securing major gifts,” he said. “This effort will sustain the mission of the institution, which is to prepare highly skilled, competent and socially aware students to meet life’s challenges and demands, and enable them to work and live productively in a dynamic and diverse global society.”

Mr. Holloman’s appointment followed a national search. His tentative start date is in June 2017.
