Carson-Newman College Appoints Nicholson as Vice President for Advancement

 

Myers McRae Executive Search and Consulting is pleased to announce that Carson-Newman College President Randall O’Brien has named Danny Nicholson, Ph.D., as the college’s new Vice President for Advancement. He will join in the Carson-Newman administrative team in April.

 

With a successful career in higher education that spans 25 years, Dr. Nicholson brings extensive fundraising leadership experience to his new position. Currently serving as Senior Vice President for External Relations at Glenville State College in West Virginia, he was Vice President of University Advancements at Coastal Carolina University, in South Carolina, from 2002 to 2008. At Coastal Carolina, he planned and implemented the university’s first comprehensive campaign, and the endowment doubled from $9 million to $20 million during his tenure.

 

His other fundraising experience includes two years as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the Medical University of South Carolina, ten years as Director of Development at Coker College, and four years as Director of the Annual Fund, Alumni Affairs and Athletic Fundraising at Charleston Southern University.

 

Active in his profession, he has served in several leadership roles in CASE District III. In 2007, he received CASE International’s John Grenzebach Award for Outstanding Research in Philanthropy for Education – Outstanding Dissertation.

 

He holds a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Charleston Southern University and a master of education degree and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina.
